Registration Criteria

Balmoral Healthcare are placing temporary staff into Hospitals and Nursing Homes throughout Northern Ireland. It is essential that you have the right experience before joining us, on the job training is not provided in most busy Hospitals and Nursing Homes. When you join the team as a temporary member of staff they expect you to have had the relevant experience beforehand, because of this you must meet the following criteria before registering:

Healthcare Assistants

Essential Criteria

• You must have at least 6 months experience working in a Hospital/Nursing Home

Desirable Criteria

• A minimum of two GCE's/GCSE' Grade A-C (or equivalent)
• Have an NVQ Level 2 Care Award or equivalent
• Have an NVQ Level 3 Care Award or equivalent
• Currently studying towards a Healthcare related degree
• Must be registered with NISCC to work in Private Nursing Homes

Registered Nurses

Essential Criteria

• Have passed a degree, diploma or other nursing qualification allowing registration with NMC
• Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council
• Must have a minimum of 6 months experience working within Hospital/Nursing Home (completed your 6 months preceptorship programme if applicable)

It is essential that both Healthcare Assistants and Registered Nurses have

• Kept their mandatory training updated (see below)
• Completed an Access NI check with Balmoral Healthcare
• Provide evidence of vaccinations (see below)

• MANUAL HANDLING
• FIRE SAFETY
• CPR
• VULNERABLE PERSONS TRAINING
• INFECTION PREVENTION AND CONTROL/HIV AWARENESS/
• HIV AWARENESS
• ADMIN OF IV MEDICATIONS (RN Only)
• VENEPUNCTURE AND CANNULATION (RN Only)
• HYPONATREMIA (RN Only)
• ANAPHYLAXIS (RN Only)
• HAEMOVIGILANCE/RIGHT PATIENT, RIGHT BLOOD (RN Only)

TRAINING – PRIVATE REQUIREMENTS (& RQIA LEGISLATIVE REQUIREMENTS):

• FIRE SAFETY
• MANUAL HANDLING
• CPR
• INFECTION PREVENTION AND CONTROL
• PROTECTION OF VULNERABLE ADULTS AND CHILDREN
• FIRST AID
• ADMIN OF MEDICATIONS (RN)

VACCINATION REQUIREMENTS:

• BCG (TUBERCULOSIS)
• MEASLES
• RUBELLA
• HEPATITIS B
• VARICELLA (CHICKEN POX)
IF NEW TO THE TRUST – MUST ALSO HAVE NEGATIVE READINGS FOR:
• HEPATITIS C
• HIV 1 & 2

(Results must be from a UK based laboratory)
